Fit for King’s

Journal

Our project in Somerset House, a Grade I listed building is now complete. It involved the transformation of a dated office space into an academic common room for King’s College London.

The refurbishment works involved opening up the mezzanine to the main space, removing fixed partitions where possible and replacing walls with sliding walls, maximising openness and offering privacy when required.

A timber clad stairway and acoustic timber cladding were the main architectural interventions, and due to the site’s heritage, the impact on the original fabric was kept to a minimum, with original features and proportions being maintained.
