We refurbished and extended two traditional mews houses in the heart of South Kensington’s conservation area to create contemporary and flexible family homes fit for the future. Working within the confines of the existing building envelope, we focused on maximising both light and space, opening up the cramped conditions to reveal the buildings’ potential.

Light scoops draw light into the basement level while the considered integration of circulation, storage and services creates spacious living areas that can be reconfigured as required. We were involved at every stage of the project, from conception to completion, to transform these under-utilised houses into much sought-after homes. The homes were awarded the BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.
